I'm sure there are many posts about this but if you would please provide me with ever tip you can think of. Many different tips as ive tried a bunch already. Seems most new things i try work for the first day but im back to normal the next. Its irons/woods/driver not just one. I am howevere alright with woods off the ground for some reason.

I'm a beginner by the way, been playing since mid last year or so and hitting it pretty hard this year. On our local par 71 i average about a 105 so not good thanks to my slice. Any advice would be welcome, besides getting a lesson from a pro.

For me, the key is to NOT cup my left hand.  If I can keep it somewhat flat relative to my left arm at the top I can keep it under control.  If not, it is not good.

Driver:  R9 460 9.5*

4 Wood:  SQ Dymo2 17*

Hybrids:  3DX RC 20*   a4r 23*

Irons:  a4r 5-GW

Wedges:  VR 54*/12* & 58*/10*

Putter:  White Hot XG 2-Ball

If you want to hit a draw sooner rather than later, get a good instructor.

But, if you want to make it hard on yourself, I'll try to help, so here goes:

1) Flatten your shaft plane on the back and downswing and take your hands to the inside i.e. well behind you, like you're really laying the club off. I highlighted the shaft angle in green in these pictures. Honestly, maybe even a little flatter just to exaggerate it:

2) Push your hips forward or rather, laterally, along your stance line throughout the downswing. You need your weight to be forward to hit the draw, with anywhere from 80 to 90% of your weight on your lead foot at impact.

Notice how much farther away this guy's hips are from the mountain in the background throughout the downswing? Notice though how his shoulders and head haven't moved laterally at all either? This is a pretty key move to say the least.

3) Palmar flex your lead wrist through the shot. Do it all back and downswing if you have to. You'll hit the ball with forward shaft lean and probably hit the ball first.

Do all three of these things at once, and you'll probably hit a draw.

Do this drill to feel numbers 1 and 3 from the above list. Number two already pre-set, so you can remove that variable from the equation to make learning it easier:

But seriously though, start working with a good instructor rather than braving this thing on your own. You'll save yourself the aggravation. It may take awhile to find a good one though. The more you know i.e. the more you study, the better you'll be at picking the right instructor.

If there's anything you don't understand in my post, just google the terms I used for more info. I'm not gonna do all the work for ya

Here's some other stuff that will help:

Advice I hate: Release the Club

I left out some stuff on the shoulders, but they should be square or even slightly closed at impact relative to your target line or so. Pretty much all high handicappers have shoulders that are way too open at impact.

Have fun. Should take you a while to digest all of that.

Check out this site BTW. Good place to start.

    • That's a tough pin on 14 at TR, had to make the hole play much longer, how far was that shot? I've only played that hole with a front pin.
    • No, but I spent (marginally) less time in the trees at Southern Pines, so it definitely played wider for me 😆. It definitely felt wider.
    • Have you measured? 🙂
    • I'm bad about taking pictures, but here are a few Hole 1 on Duke, looking toward the green. The elevated green with bunkers surrounding it was a theme. The other theme was pin placements that were tough - this one is pretty far left. There were basically no easy pins on this day.     Hole 3 at Pine Needles. An extremely cool hole. Hole 5 at Pine Needles. The picture doesn't do the green site justice. Green of 6 at Southern Pines. A wild green, and a really cool setting at the edge of the property: Hole  Tee shot on 5 at Tobacco Road. Flag is on the flag, the huge fairway is to the right. Hole 8 at Tobacco Road. Downhill, medium length par 3 with this pin in the front part of the green. Really cool looking shot. A look at the pin placement and cottage on Tobacco Road 14. I hit one of my best shots of the trip here, to about 15 feet.
    • Yes, but season 2 being all of six episodes is a bit of a let-down, even if the season itself wasn't.
