I traded in some old clubs to globalgolf and have about 150 credit burning a hole in my pocket.  I'm looking at replacing my TM 200 3 wood.  It's not much longer than my R7 steel 5 wood, and I don't trust it as much.  Current contenders are TEE XCG-3 or XCG-V, TM R9 TP, Ping i15, and Titleist 909F2, or maybe even Nike Tour VR.  I'm primarily interested in more distance.  Anything that likes to go left is out.

That's the one I was leaning toward, but thought the Taylor made might be a safer bet. I don't live close enough to a golf shop to try either out. If the TEE is anywhere close to what it is rumored to be I think I'd like it. Will prob pull the trigger while they have 10 percent off used.

    • Day 215 - 2025-05-03 Hit some balls at Downback. 🙂 @NatalieB is a college graduate now.
    • Purchased a new set of Ping G410 irons with True Temper XP 95 (R300) steel shafts (4-PW) at a good price. Had moved to graphite shafts many years ago (spanning various irons sets from Titleist, TaylorMade and Mizuno) thinking they would be appreciably lighter to help my slower swing speed. My weekend golf partners told me to quickly re-shaft the Pings to graphite. I must admit: (1) these clubs feel as light as any graphite shafts (2) I am hitting these irons the purest I have ever experienced in an iron (3) they fly straight!  Just looking for reinforcement to stick with the steel shafts.
    • Birdied the short par 4 #16 at Quail Brook today. Drove it into the greenside bunker and got up and down. This is another hole I didn't birdie all year last year.
    • I have not been playing well so far this year. Had some back tightness issues that have been bothering me for a couple of weeks which didn't help things. Today didn't start much different. Shot 50 on the front, could barely hit the ball in the air. Kept trying to make adjustments to get something to work and wanted to quit. Something must have worked though because I ended up shooting 39 on the back with 6 GIR. Stupid game.
