it seems to me that alot of people really love the taylormade 200 series fariway woods, and many are still playing it even though it hasnt been made for years. I know that the "smoothie" verision was tour only, but what makes this club such a good one? Ive read several places where it is called the "holy grail".

I use a Taylor Made 200 Series 13 degree 3-wood (2-wood, Tour Spoon). I love the thing. The head is so small I can hit it out of the rough if there is a somewhat reasonable lie. I've never heard of the "smoothie."

the smoothie was a tour issued club that had a smooth crown insted of the top with the two ridges on it.
-u said that the head was compact and small, for a club with 13* of loft id expect a larger head. How is it off the tee?

Pretty Good. I use it a lot off the tee on Sunday's at Amherst Golf Links because there are alot of doglegs. I tee it down pretty low because of the low profile. The Graffaloy shaft that I have in it is pretty whippy so I can't swing hard with it like I can my driver.

    • LIV golf was pretty close to me in 2023, at the same course that hosted the 2023 Senior PGA.  I didn't go to either one.  I do know a few people who went to the LIV event, and they said it was pretty well attended and pretty well run.  If I had free tickets, I might show up, but I'd probably have to drive 10 miles to park to get a shuttle to come back to within 5 miles of my house.
    • As long as "in town" means a drive of less than an hour, I'd probably go.  I've never actually been to a pro golf event, so it would be a novelty. Presumably, they'd be playing on a course that I'm not normally allowed to visit, so there would be an interest in just going to see the place. My tolerance for traffic is pretty minimal, so if massive headaches are predicted it would dampen my enthusiasm.
    • I would definitely buy tickets and go watch a round or two.
