Guys. Need some help here. I am planning to get a few new woods in exchange for some of my current woods. However, I live in a country where custom fitting doesn't exist. That is why I post lots of questions on the web to get a general opinion before I make a purchase (no testing of the clubs available either...) I have two options.

Option A: I really like the club that I am planning to purchase but I can't order it at the length at I want. (Although it's a minor 1/2 inches) However, I can use it immidiately after purchase.

Option B: I feel the club is ok but the great thing is that I can order it at custom length which fits my height. Shipping time is 1 month.

Which one would you purchase in this situation? Please state why. Thanks a bunch.

what i would do is get used to the extra half-inch if that is the club you really like. in the alternative, i trust you have demoed this club with the shorter shaft and that the half-inch is coming off the butt end. what you could do in your situation is as follows: get the club you want, get an extra grip, a hook blade, some grip tape, some mineral spirits (or gasoline), a grit edge blade for your hacksaw and do the modification your self. cutting a half-inch off the butt end of a shaft is not that technical an operation and anybody can do it. but, it will change, drastically, the feel, weight and playing charecteristics of the club (you might want to get some lead tape as well). good luck.

I don't like either option.

You should demo the clubs on your "possibles" list, and pick the one you hit the best. Then, you should be professionally fitted based on the hitting session and the info from the launch monitor at the store or the course.

Then order the club at the correct spec. If you can't order it at the correct length, (and I'm wondering why not, unless this is a purely hypothetical question), then order it at the available length and have the length AND the swingweight changed by a reputable custom shop.
