I've had a really frustrating year.  I had a video lesson in May and the things he had me change make sense.  So I practiced really hard while I was off work, hit tons of balls, tried to ingrain this change, and see results. But when I go to the course I'm hitting some really awful shots.  Toe shanks, huge unplayable pulls, just unplayable stuff.  Its not that I don't think going to him would make me better, it is that at 65 dollars a lesson, it is a huge financial investment that is hard to justify.

The issue isn't my good shots.  They are better than they used to be.  But I can't make a good move or even close to a good move on every shot particularly when I am playing.  I know I don't swing at a consistant tempo from day to day, shot to shot, and this is a huge issue making it super hard to be consistant.  The odd thing is I am so much better on the range than i ever have been.  But in 2008 I was going out every weekend and shooting 81 or 82 with ease.  This year I've had only one or two rounds that I felt like I played well for my skill level.

How can this be improved?  One thought is buying tour tempo and using this at the range to help swing the same day in and day out.

And in regards to a instructor, I was thinking I might be better off in the long run buying a video camera.  I can monitor my swing and get feedback from others.   I can also use evolvr at a fraction of the cost of lessons locally.

Any feedback would be great.  Thank you..

Brian

    • No, but I spent (marginally) less time in the trees at Southern Pines, so it definitely played wider for me 😆. It definitely felt wider.
    • Have you measured? 🙂
    • I'm bad about taking pictures, but here are a few Hole 1 on Duke, looking toward the green. The elevated green with bunkers surrounding it was a theme. The other theme was pin placements that were tough - this one is pretty far left. There were basically no easy pins on this day.     Hole 3 at Pine Needles. An extremely cool hole. Hole 5 at Pine Needles. The picture doesn't do the green site justice. Green of 6 at Southern Pines. A wild green, and a really cool setting at the edge of the property: Hole  Tee shot on 5 at Tobacco Road. Flag is on the flag, the huge fairway is to the right. Hole 8 at Tobacco Road. Downhill, medium length par 3 with this pin in the front part of the green. Really cool looking shot. A look at the pin placement and cottage on Tobacco Road 14. I hit one of my best shots of the trip here, to about 15 feet.
    • Yes, but season 2 being all of six episodes is a bit of a let-down, even if the season itself wasn't.
    • This is one of the greatest posts I've ever seen in my life on sports message boards like this!! Bravo, Sir!! 👏
