I purposefully try to feel rushed between shots.  For some reason, if I rush like a madman between shots it allows me to feel more comfortable slowing down and focusing when I'm actually standing over my ball.

^^ I cant switch on/off like that, once i realise im rushing, i get to the next tee box, put by bag down, take a seat on the floor and wont move for 10-15 minutes and smoke a cigarette, let people play through etc until ive relaxed.

if i rush around its only ever ending in disaster and a high blood pressure

last night though i practically ran between shots as light was fading fast, but kept it together nicely, who knows, my game is getting better perhaps ic an rush and still focus now?

It definitely takes practice.  I think I developed the ability from doing competitive pistol shooting.  Run to a position, then stop, control your breathing, relax, aim, squeeze off a shot, then run like hell to the next position and repeat the process.
