Hi there, i have just got back into golf after a 7 year layoff. i used to play off around 5 or 6.....i have tom watson classic irons, they are blades and are really good....

i use a "wooden" 3 wood as my driver and i have a rubbish metal 3 wood as my fairway wood..

i do not want to replace my irons but i understand i need to buy a a driver and a fairway wood.....

i never liked using drivers as i would tend to fade it a lot.

any help, any advice would be great.

THANKS

Anthony

I recommend you go to a golf shop/store and compare different drivers on their launch monitor. While oftentimes the numbers don't reflect real world performance (misadjusted equipment, etc..), you can compare the different numbers you get with various clubs and pick the one that performs the best for you.

I (and others) can tell you what WE like, but are not going to be able to give you any type of worthwhile recommendation that would fit YOUR swing and preferences. NOTE: If you tend to fade the Big Dog a lot, try some of the new draw type drivers. Slightly closed face at address attempts to correct for the leaks to the right.

If your handicap is truely 10 then you're FAR better off going to a local fitting center with a budget in mind and spending an hour on a launch monitor with a fitter who will give you the best combination of loft and shaft for your personal swing . You can then hit various drivers with those specs and see which feels and plays best for you .

Anything else regarding what club to buy is arbitrary opinion and really won't help your game in the slightest as nobody else will have your exact swing.

p.s. Buy a red one. It doesn't matter what make it is, red is lucky and it will bring you good fortune with your golf.

(or other irrelevant opinion)
