I have narrowed my search to these two clubs.  Anyone have any feedback on them?  Which is more forgiving?  Workable?  Any help wouldbe appreciated.  THANKS!!

are we talking drivers here?

if we are i can only say how disapointed i was in the taylormade R9. i had a 9.5 degree stiff shafted R9 460 and it gave me a high flight with very little penetration. that said it was very easy to ork the ball if thats what your after but it really did compromise my distance compared to my 909 i was using before.

Between the two sets, the Taylormade R9s are the more forgiving clubs.  Now are you looking at the TP model or just the regular set? The R9 TPs are more comparable to the CBs, with the CBs being a bit more of a players club than former.  The CBs will give you a bit more control, but not as much as the MBs.  Hopefully that helped.  I have a set of the R9 TPs and love them.

Personally, I found the CBs easier to hit and comparable to the Burner 1.0s (right down to the chrome finish and GI look at address). The R9s definitely had more of a blade feel and I really wasn't a fan of them.

Before you narrowed your search, did you give any thought to the MCs? They'd definitely be in the range for an 8 handicap.

Hmm, I don't think the R9's have a blade-like feel at all, definitely a GI club. I thought they fit me pretty well as a mid-teens handicapper. Very forgiving, but not much offset and didn't feel bulky. I think as an 8 handicapper you should consider a more workable set unless forgiveness is your top priority in picking irons.

I meant relatively speaking. Between the two, I think of the CBs are GI clubs (for the reasons stated above), but that's just me.

    • I never heard dislike for them.  From my perspective, they are just like any other club. Though, they were always probably over-priced, until recently as other club manufacturers have been raising prices the past 5+ years. You had to wait for them to go on sale, which you can get them closer to other club manufacturers.  They sell good clubs. Nothing crazy..
    • Why do so many people dislike PXG clubs and constantly criticize them? All the folks at my club and especially online, I never hear good things about them except from people who bought them and defend them. They look fine to me but curious is there some sort of quality issue or is it just stereotyping the buyers.
    • I have the LM1 launch monitor and I’ve been very impressed. I agree with your assessment and it’s very accurate for me and ease of use is wonderful. The price point of $199 is very hard to beat with this form factor and performance. I was previously using a PRGR.
