I made a complete swing change for this year, last year I was normally a 120-130+ per round player... so my goals for this year was to break 110 at least once (which I felt was going to be pretty tough given my history), no more 10s on a hole, and make my first birdie.

Today was my best golf ever (so far), I felt really good after yesterdays 9 holes where I ended the day with par, par, par in very windy conditions(I have never had more than 2 pars in a round let alone consecutively).

I already had some 10s early in the year :( so this goal was not met

The thing I was really happy about besides the score was that every shot I hit was pure, it sounded good and felt good (I had a couple of blow up holes though).  I had no swing thoughts clouding my mind today, i just stepped up to the ball and hit the ball.

Today, I made another birdie (my 2nd of the year, my first coming yesterday or two days ago dont remember), It was on a par three, I nearly hole in one the shot!

Last year I was a 190 yard driver, this year more around 190-230, today I hit my longest drive ever 312 yards dead straight!! (Although I did get a little help from a down slope in the fairway)

Putting was amazing too... many 2 putts and 3 putts (better than my usual 2 putts, 3 putts, and 4-5 putts)

I not only broke 110 but I smashed it with a 96 :D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

48 on the front and back, If it wasnt for two holes where I shot a 9 and a 8, I would have had a even better round :)

I am just so happy... I LOVE GOLF!!!

Awesome to hear about all of your goals and accomplishments this season!

Even through all of that though, I hope you keep your love and happiness of golf your main goal every year.

Thanks!

I have to thank my Grampa's Brother (is that my great uncle?) for inspiring me to start playing... hes 90 years old still and plays every couple of weeks.

edit:

Also, Im very superstitions and now im stuck with another superstition... all my good rounds of golf this year came when I was wearing a white polo, I was wearing a white polo today... and so from now on when I golf I will have to wear a white polo :D

The golf Gods giveth and taketh away... after my best golf ever on Sunday... I pretty much shot one of my worst scores (67 on 9 holes).

The greens were crazy fast in the earlier holes and crazy slow on the last few holes (Does the sun or lack of sun have an affect on green speed?)

My drives were horrible... My first tee shot was a huge draw into the adjacent fairway to the left every drive after that was a fade into the right rough... there were a lot of trees and almost always the only option was a lateral chip back into the fairway.

I ended the round 10-9-10 :(

I could also be because I did not wear my white polo (all my good rounds of golf this year has been when I wore my white polo).  Yes I am very superstitions.

Sounds like that's your version of the red and black sunday Tiger.

    • I caught a video on this driver; the face tech seems crazy. Looking at the heat map for ball speed, hitting it basically anywhere on the face only loses a few percent ball speed. The surprising and counter intuitive part to me was that for flat faced clubs, ball speed loss is directly proportional to distance loss. For clubs with bulge and roll this is apparently not true. The surprising part of that story being that the max distance potential looks to be a tiny pee sized area for this driver, and I feel in general for drivers. The counter intuitive part being (the myth?) that blade irons have a pee sized sweet spot and missing that tiny spot causes dramatic losses. And that modern drivers, maybe 2017 on, have massive sweet spots and are ultra forgiving. Where in reality, if this heat map data is valid and reliable, it might be a bit of the opposite. This insane tech driver appears to have a pea sized "sweet spot" while Mizuno Pro 241 irons are 28% more forgiving compared to the average of all clubs measured. Not compared to other players irons, compared to all clubs from all categories, players to SGI! The Pro 241 being essentially just a solid chunk of metal with no "tech" at all. Which for me devolves into a whole mess of what is forgiveness really? And in measurable and quantifiable results how many yards, or feet, does that translate into?
