Video Tip - A Release Drill

Here's my most recent video lesson. I was helping some people with their release and I often use this drill to help them fully extend through the golf swing. I have lots of other videos. They're all free.

Hey Steve - nice theory on release!! I looked at a few of your other videos and clearly you are not yet winning any cinematography awards for your video instruction quality, but the content is great. The amount of full-swing stuff we see out there and on the Golf Channel is bursting with so much information, yet it seems that only Dave Pelz has his eye on what we all need so much, and that would be, in my case at least, a sure fire way to make certain contact from all kinds of lies within 8 yards of the green. Its mainly the chipping game I am talking about, where a sure-fire up & down technique is needed. I find that statistically I am not hitting GIR as much as I should, and that I am left with many of these easily rollable chips, a lot of which I do NOT place close enough to the flag for a certain up & down. Do you have a good routine or drill for chipping well? Would be much appreciated, thanks.

I'm definately not trying to win on cinematography. I'll hire someone to do it if I ever decide to do my DVD. For now I'm just happy about showing the content to help people.

nice vid Steve. It helps me to think there are 2 separate arcs being created, one on the backswing and another on the downswing. The lowest point on the downswing arc is several inches past the ball, which is why divots come after ball contact and full extension occurs after ball contact. It also means you're hitting down on the ball, one of the secrets to consistency and control.

I don't like the idea of DOWN.. I like the idea of LOW, and FORWARD.

Thanks Steve. I appreciate you putting these out here for us. Would you do this same drill with driver? I'm looking for a drill to keep the driver going down the line just a little longer in order to create a little more distance. More draw I do not need!
