Just started getting into golf since I am too old to really play any other sports.  I just took a video of my swing in the backyard with some practice balls.  Didn't hit them full swing but I was just wondering how the mechanics in my swing were.  Please comment with advise I would very much appreciate it.

Sorry about that.  Thank you for bringing that to my attention.  I have now switched it so it should be able to be viewed.  Thanks again.

Your backswing looks pretty good. The only thing I would say is that it looks like you're standing up as you start your downswing. Try to maintain your spine angle a little until after impact. Do you push or slice some of your shots?

Overall, thats pretty much all I would recommend. Good swing!

Ryan

Yes as a matter of fact I do.  That is what I am trying to improve on.  How would you go about working on it to eliminate it?

The simplest thing you can do is place your golf bag or chair behind you and place your butt against it. Try to keep it your butt touching that until after impact.

I'd give advice on your swing, but I'm still working mine out so it would not be the best! :)

However, I've found my 2 main roots of me topping the ball is from looking up or flipping and not hitting down on the ball.

It will help but like robinoso says, watch out for your hands flipping.

Usually if I top the ball, it's because I usually come out of my stance. I try to focus on maintaining my spine angle.

There was a good drill by Tom Watson on Golf Digest a couple of issues ago of how impact should feel like. Drill Click the link to check it out.

I would say you are breaking your right arm on the back swing and your left is not straightening on the follow through. Both of these things will lead to the club wandering off line and give inconsistent shots.
