hey everyone, hows it going? I'm mike from Pittsburgh. Newer to golf here, just about 3 years playing. Only one of those was serious play. I'm at a 25 handicap right now. Broke 100 beginning of this year and I'm pretty proud of that. Anyway, happy to be here and if anyone knows why I can't add a signature let me know please! Haha

Search the site for "when signature" and you'll get your answer to the last part.

Welcome to the site. Glad to have another fella from Pittsburgh. I'm up here in Erie, so again, hello.

Send him to Whispering Woods. Downing is actually not too bad for the price and the fact that it's a municipal course. The list of "places to play in Erie" drops off very quickly after that, unfortunately. Green Meadows is okay. Harbor Ridge isn't bad (just nine holes). But perhaps my standards are too high.......

The four country clubs - Lake View, Kahkwa, Lawrence Park, and Lake Shore (in that order, though the first two are really close) - aren't actually too expensive. It is just Erie, PA after all. ;-)

I see thats the one you teach at. Whispering Woods looks really nice. But like you said, you definitely have higher standards that we would haha. We aren't fantastic players. He's better than me (shoots like 80 or so average) and we are used to playing courses that we can walk and play for like $10 per nine. We go to courses like Krendale, Stoughton Acres, Lake Arthur Country Club, and a course called Aubrey's. All of those are in Butler, Pa where we live and they are cheap. Lake Arthur, for a country club, is actually pretty cheap and I like Krendale since its 27 holes and every 9 has an island hole. He just golfed at the course right near Behrend that the school just bought and said it was crap. Thanks for the info though!

You can play 18 with a cart for $29 at WW if you play at the right time.

Gospel Hill is crap, yeah.

He should check out Downing. It's $19 or something for 18 holes, IIRC.
