I decided to buy the TaylorMade Daytona Ghost putter. I picked it up and knew instantly it was right for me. But the problem I have now is the right length of the putter. The site I want to buy it off supplies 33', 34' and 35' lengths. I am just over 6 feet tall and prefer to look down onto the ball (hence the chosen blade putter).

I have read that 33' is the average putter length however as I am just a bit taller than the average person, is a 34' putter best for me?

Go to a store and try out the different sizes. The exact size depends on your setup, arm length and to some degree personal preference. I am 5'6 and like a 33" (32" feels a bit short when I have tried them). Your mileage may vary.

At just over 6 feet, I would say you'd be looking at either a 34 or 35 inch putter... BTW I wouldn't say that 33 is standard... in fact all the stores around me that carry golf equipment (a few locals in addition to Golfsmith and Sports Authority) carry mostly 35 inch putters with just a few 34s and 33s.

The best advice is to try a few different lengths out if possible... if worse comes to worse and you get one too short or too long you can always take it in and have it lengthened or shortened.

It's very rare to find anything other than 35" in stores around here.  And IMO that's too long for a lot of people because it makes them stand too upright, preventing them from using their shoulders in their stroke.

Once I decide to put a putter into my bag (not just test-driving) I take off the stock grip, cut the shaft down, and put on the grip I like.  I have the tools to do it myself and it's not hard to do, but it's not expensive to have a golf shop do it either.  Probably less than $20.

For your reference, I am 5' 9" and I like my putters to be about 33.5".  As was said above, you should go to a store to test-drive.  Since they will probably only have 35s try that.  Then move your hands down the grip an inch at a time to see what you like.
