Hi there,

About a year ago, I bought a set of TM Burner Irons with graphite regular shafts. Back then I got fitted for them, and the fitter told me that I was right in the limit between regular and stiff. I was hitting my 8 iron around 130-135 yds then, and the shafts seemed to work for me at first. I liked the regular over the stiff ones pretty much because of the feel of the hit.

I´ve been taking lessons lately, and my swing picked up a lot since that. I´m hitting my 8 iron about 150-155 yds now, but I´m starting to have a lot of problems with accuracy, probably because the regular graphite shafts won´t fit my swing anymore. I´m also having a lot higher trayectory, maybe a little more than i´d like.

I read on this forum that steel shafts help a lot with accuracy compared to graphite, and I´m planning to buy a new set (AP1´s or JPX-800, haven´t decided yet...you could help with that too!! ).

The question is: if I get steel regular shafts, would I get any improvement in accuracy compared to the graphite regular ones I own right now? Or should I go straight for the steel stiff shafts?...would stiff give me even more control?.

Thanks for the advice.

i went from Nike Slingshot SS4d's with the regular graphite shafts to the Titleist AP1's with regular steel shafts and feel that my accuracy has improved by a large margin. My scores have improved this year also. My top two picks for the irons was between the JPX-800's and the AP1's, and went with the Titleist simply because of feel. I would suggest hitting both sets with every shaft option that you can to see what you like or get fitted once again.
