I have a Callaway Octane Tour with a PX6.0 shaft. I think I already know the answer to the question Im about to ask, but does this shaft fall under the same category of "pieces of cr*p" when it comes to the factory installed shaft that all manufacturers are putting in their drivers that are sold throughout the worlds golf shops or did they make an effort to put a better shaft in their new line of drivers??

I like the Project X shaft in my Nike driver. Cheap crap, I don't know, but these shafts sell for $275 at Golfsmith so they certainly aren't the cheapest out there.

Im going to say, crap shaft. I spent some time on a flight scope today. Numbers were interesting. My old MP600 with a Mitsubishi Rayon shaft was 10-15m longer than the Callaway. The Callaway was down on spin, although I dont notice that on the course, it appears to be plenty long with good carry and roll out. Need to get the MP600 put back together and test them side by side on the course. Then try and figure out how much better the Callaway will be with a shaft upgrade to get a few degrees on the launch and an extra 500 RPM. The after market PX is more than likely a great shaft. Just some food for though, how much did you pay for your driver?? My driver retails at around the $300 mark, so I doubt it has a $275 shaft in it. We as consumers need to wise up as to what the manufacturers are putting in our drivers. You see so many people going from one driver to the next. Chances are there is nothing wrong with the driver head, but the shaft is causing the problems.
