Saw a set of Callaway X-Forged with Project X - 6.0 Condition.....excellent minus. The PW has a ding on the bottom of the toe. Otherwise the set is good.

Though my MP14 has lots of sentimental value as this clubs have been with me for 14 years. But it is not getting any play as I recently acquired MP68.

I plan to bring the Callaways to the Bay area as I will be living there for the winter.

Asking price for the Callaway's is $250. Trade in value for Mizuno MP14 is $75 for a out of pocket expense of $175.00.

Is this an OK deal ? Wise to trade MP14 for the Callaways ?

Thanks.

A good friend of mine recently bought the Callaway X Forged irons for $300. He is roughly a 13 handicap and hits these clubs very well. I am a 6.8 handicap and also really like these clubs. For your out of pocket expense I would say go for it! Very good irons!!!

IN MY BAG:

 - TaylorMade R11 Driver (Stiff Flex)

 - TaylorMade R11 3 Wood (Stiff Flex)

 - TaylorMade Rescule 11 (Stiff Flex)

 - Nike Slingshot irons (3 - PW)

 - TaylorMade TP xFT 52*

 - TaylorMade TP xFT 60*

 - Nike OZ Mallet Putter

 - Titleist NXT Tour golf balls

 - Footjoy StaSoft glove

 - Adidas Powerband Sport shoes

I love mine.  I'm not a low handicapper by any means, but found them very easy to play.  I managed to buy mine for $250 via Craigslist and thought it was a heck of a deal for the shape they were in.

Thanks for the responses.

I started researching this club in regards to price and playability.

#1 --- the $250.00 deal was not as spiffy as I originally thought. Had seen a few offerings around this price range that was in better shape.

#2 --- I am intrigued by a Wilson offering ---FG Tour. This could be had for $334.00

All my set have been bought used. I am thinking about getting a brand new set this time.

But still in the process of researching the different options.

BTW, I played with the MP-14's after shelving it for a while in favor of MP-68's. Feel wise, the MP-68's has a tad more feel to it. I could tell by the sound and feel where exactly I am striking the ball.

When I went to play the MP-14's ---- though it still felt great, not as good as the MP-68.

The X-Forged also has that 'buttery' feel to it. Like the MP-68, it did a give my hands and ears a great feedback as to where I am striking the ball.

The X-Forged seemed to launch the ball a bit lower than the MP-68. Perhaps this is due to the Project X vs S300 shafts --- not sure but just my guess.

Again, thanks for your responses.

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
