Hi all!

I'm about to buy a Titleist 983K (at 9.5 or 10.5 degrees) but can't decide on the shaft. My choices are the YS-6, the Fujikura Speeder, the Titleist 4560, or the Prolite. I've also read that the YS-6 stiff (which I believe would be a good choice) is more close to a firm or regular in comparison to other shafts. Any help would be very welcome! Thanks!

I've been happy with the YS-6. It can get a tad snappy at times, but it hits the ball with a good trajectory, is a good weight, and lets me work the ball either way. The Speeder isn't quite the same as the Speeder 757, so be mindful of that.

Eric, thanks a lot. I also just found this review of the YS-6 (just in case anybody else is interested):

Looks like stiff is closer to firm for the YS-6. Anyway, guess I'll go for the YS-6. Thanks again!

I borrowed a 983k with a stiff YS-6 when i tried the driver. If i was a little short and quick then i could get it going all directions sure. But it had to be a pretty ugly swing, that ANY shaft couldnt have accounted for......

I liked it alot though generally.Id also say it came up sort'a half a flex more regular than some other "stiff" shafts.Good feel though, good high launch and did get any to balloon.

Thanks to you, too! Looks like the YS-6 is a good choice, especially considering my options from that particular dealer here in Switzerland that is currently offering the 983K at a very reasonable price.

I have hit all the shafts. It all depends on what you swing speed and tempo as to which one is right for you. My personal favorite between the ones listed is the speeder. I saw that someone made a reference that the speeder is not the same as the 757. Well that is true and is a good thing cause most amateur golfers cant get full use of the 757. It is too stiff. The best shaft for the average golfer with smooth tempo and swing speed is the YS-6, but if you are a higher swing speed golfer or with a quicker tempo then you want the speeder.

Well, I frankly admit that I'm an average golfer only but thanks a lot for the additional information regarding the Speeder (757). I'll take the YS-6 stiff.

Completeley agree with texastitleistguy. The 757 is the best shaft made but you have to know how to use it. The YS-6 is a great shaft. I have it in my 3 wood and the 757 in my driver

    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
