I just put a 13* RBZ Tour in the bag.  So far so good, I switched because I wanted a very long 3wd that I'd be more apt to hit then my driver where appropriate (not so much as a layup club, but for tight fairways).  Only hit it off the turf once and it went well.

I honestly don't see how 2* of loft is making such a big difference in the ability to get the ball in the air from the turf, I think there is a tendency (myself included) for guys to swing out of their socks with the 13* trying to elevate the ball from the turf and this causes the issues that folks see.

I currently play an old (awesome) R7 TP TS (tour spoon) that is 13 degrees.  This club is a cannon, and I really have grown to love it.

I tend to hit the ball high, and carry a 16 degree hybrid.  As a result, the strong 3 wood fits between my driver and hybrid and I use it for tee shots where I want to place the ball between 260 and 280 yards.

To the OP - as another poster mentioned, if you're hitting your driver 240 and your standard 3 wood 200, it's unlikely that the lower loft will benefit your distance.  You may get more roll, but at your swing speed you're going to get less carry and additional side-spin.  I'd leave the 3 wood in the bag and work on increasing your lag and clubhead speed (the distance will come).

In the Bag: TaylorMade R11 TP - TaylorMade R7 TP TS - Cleveland Halo - TM TP 2009 3-PW - Vokey SM 52 - Vokey SM 60 - Rife Barbados CS - ProV1x

True "rescue" clubs......when sent to the junk barrels they get rescued quick!

Not sure about over your side of the pond but here in the UK Cobra have just released the Long Tom 2 wood.

    • This isn't going to show you lateral dispersion at all. It's basically just a radar (for speed) launch monitor. It doesn't measure spin or anything like that. Not even launch direction.

    • Interesting changes. The idea of relegation and promotion have always been there in a different form (getting and losing your card etc and qualifying for bigger events) but it looks like they want to define it better for top tier events. The Tour has always had A and B level events (and even lower). It will be interesting what they choose as the Challenger Series events and whether some tournaments go to the Challenger Series that used to be prestigious. Not sure how the networks will take to this knowing they have “Challenger” Series events defined that way now. Also, I’m not happy that John Henry and Theo Epstein are involved. Look what Henry has done to the Red Sox.
