Lots of good ones in the Orlando area. You mentioned one - Harmony Ranch, which isn't far from Melbourne. Check out Royal St. Cloud - just head west in 192 until you get to St. Cloud & follow the signs - 27 holes of links-style golf.

You also have Lake Nona on the southeast side of Orlando just off the 417, so easy access from the coast.

Thanks for your response....As of right now we are going to play Duran and the Harmony Preserve.....You suggested the Royal Oak....would that be preferred over any Orlando coarse?  I would like to treat the boys to the best course possible...I understand people have their own opinions....price is not an issue....we are willing to fork out a couple bucks for a really nice course.....any information would be greatly appreciated....cheers

There are a number of Orlando courses that I'd suggest over Royal Oak. I thought you were looking for decdent courses as close to Melbourne as possible. Here's a limk to my favorite Orlando courses. Most of them are an hour to 1.5 hours from Melbourne. Eagle Creek is close to Orlando airport, about an hour from Melbourne.

    • It isn't about maintaining focus 100% of the time when you are on the course. It is getting focus back for the shot at hand. Even PGA tour players will chat with their caddies or opponents about non-golf stuff, but then lock in. It is hard to try to constantly be 100% locked in for 4+ hours.  Totally normal thing to happen. You really only need a few moments of focus.  This is where a pre-shot routine helps. Maybe you need to add something that gets the focus back.  I just focus on every shot like a puzzle that needs solved. I like solving puzzle and problems. So, I try to be curious. Which then enhances focus. I think it lets me take each shot at hand. It lets me have the down time between shots. What I do is just get to the ball, and then start gathering information. Yardage, lie, wind, where is the pin at, etc.. Then I figure out what I want to do.  It's not like I can't shut off the thoughts and focus when I need to. I only need to focus for a few minutes before each shot.
