Callaway Razr X Tour Hybrid. 18* 2h with S300 shaft.

Haven't had a chance to hit it yet, but thought I'd share...

I'll be putting it to use tomorrow though. Can't wait!

Well, I've had some time with this club on the range, and on the course.

Pros:

Looks nice to my eye at address. Easy looking to hit for an 18*

I like the Ginty-esque sole

Gets up in the air easy

So-So:

Okay feel off the clubface

Cons:

Gets up in the air easy, a bit too easy off shots a touch too high on the clubface.

I've got a few other new things on the way yet to come. New 54* and 58* Forged wedges, Razr Fit driver, some crazy new putter, the #9 style. And the Hex Black balls.

Looks nice.....I see you play Callaway through the entire bag.  I played their FT-5 for two-three years and absolutely loved it until it shattered. Callaway refused to replace the head....they said it was too old and out of warranty...... so they are in my doghouse as of late.  LOL

My broken FT-5

IMG_0025.jpg

......was replaced with a different brand.

PS...the Callaway FT 3-wood is still in the bag.  I hit it well and it's not broke.....so it stays!  LOL

What's in Paul's Bag:
- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Driver
- Big Bertha Alpha 815 3-wood
- Callaway Razr Fit 5-wood
- Callaway Big Bertha 4-5 Rescue Clubs
-- Mizuno Mx-25 six iron-gap wedge
- Mizuno Mp-T4 56degree SW
- Mizuno Mp-T11 60degree SW
- Putter- Ping Cadence Ketsch

Yeah, I'm "on staff" with Callaway. My Rep happens to belong to the club where I work and we have a really good relationship. Plus, I really like that they offer a full line of product. Except, I prefer Nike shirts.

And, come on yo, FT-5 is pretty old dude! You can't blame them :) They are very good about replacing stuff under warranty ! :P

I loved my FT-5 too, still have it, and it will occasionally find its way into my bag. My favorite driver has been the FT-9, but one of my buddies "borrowed" mine when I got my FT Tour and I couldn't break him away from it. I had the Razr Hawk in my bag for Korean Tour QSchool, but only as a loaner, had to give it back to my Callaway rep. I hit that one pretty nice too! I'm pretty excited about getting the Razr Fit.

I think the Razr Fit is going to be one hot club. Both with looks and off the club face.

I liked my FT 3W too. Am really happy with the Diablo! Actually this Razr Hybrid replaces my FT hybrid. I beat that thing to death, its actually still kickin'. We'll see which performs better...

I haven't hit, nor seen it. Sounding good when my rep described it to me! I'm excited in trying something new.

    • I am sure they do have software that does that. Manufacturing and design software's are pretty sophisticated now.  If they were to make it all custom, that would not be mass manufacturing that gets them the profits they need. Building a putter one exact way is way cheaper than having to input 300 different combinations. Also, they are selling through big box stores, so they need that one putter. That is why you do not see Edel in golf stores, it is all custom built.  Yea, but PXG is not selling their clubs in big box stores, trying to do bulk sales. They are doing everything custom. So, having multiple options available at no cost adder is a very good business decision that makes it look like they are giving you a deal.  I am not sure Mizuno does that anymore, at least online purchases. When I go to their website, there is no option to customize loft and lie angle. They do that if you get fitted. Also, I am not sure what the price is compared to just buying a set off the shelf at the store.  To me, it could be a perception of no adder, but is it really? Also, if Srixon is selling you clubs at the same price as a big-box store, they are not giving you a deal. So, maybe that customization is built into the price of the club there? The big box store is going to mark up on the irons in addition to what Srixon makes selling to a big box store.

    • Day 9: 12/18/2024 Okay so about 15 minutes of focused mirror work today and I still have the station set up outside my office door so every time I enter or leave I get 1 to 5 extra slow-mo swings in.  The PPJ swing thought is getting better. In terms of PP I need to make sure I keep the attention on using the ground up through the movement and not just "going through the motions".  The J part, I have to focus on my lead sit-bone driving directly away from the ball. I still like to go up and out on that when I lose focus.  Repetitive slow-mo and medium-mo swings are helping.
