Welcome to the forum.

I played Mid Pines and Pine Needles this week. Seems we won't be having winter this year as it was 71 degrees the other day.

Before the work done at Pinehurst #2 I'd have played Pine Needles over #2 as the far better course, but now it appears #2 kicks butt. Would you agree with that statement (both parts) or did you like #2 before and after?

Have not played #2 since resto but heard good things. Never played #2 much, especially since '99 when rates soared. Do have the urge (and resources) to play it more now. I played #7 for years as my dad lived on 4th green. Great course. Trouble with Pinehurst is the popularity. I can play ten really nice area courses for what a round at #2 cost. Especially using the Sandhills golf capital card. The big buzz locally as of late is The Dormie Club. In West End, 7-9 miles from Pinehurst, it is making a real name for itself. I will play #2 in summer when rates drop. $350/round I am told in spring but my father in law works turf management and could get some kind of deal. Pricey play even at half off. Plan to play The Dormie a few times as well. Pine Needles was top shelf. Wife and I may join. She has been taking lessons there with Donna Andrews, former 5 time LPGA winner. Just an incredible place. Dan

    • Day 47: simulator day! Played St. Andrew’s and shot a +1. Not bad, especially with having to putt at this simulator set up. Had about 5 minutes at the end to work on some feels as well.
    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.
    • Day 151 1-11 flow work today. I've been doing all pause work, so Inwanted to get some rhythm going. Recorded.

    • So the question was posed today by some of my friends.  Is a pitch mark the same as a divot?  I thought NO, but they argued if your ball lands in another player's divot (made by club during a swing) this was the same as a pitch mark, i.e. the ball mark made when the ball lands
