Well yesterday I ended up breaking my Dunlop DDH II Driver that I got for Christmas. It was pretty cheap but I needed a new driver pretty quick. Tomorrow I am going shopping for a new driver and need some help. I am going to want to get a pre-owned club. Somewhere in the $40 to $80 range. Some stats: Old driver was regular but was super flexible. I hit the 5iron 175, 7 iron 155, and my old Driver about 240 or so. Any help on some suggestion would help. I will be going to the Golfsmith, Golf Galaxy and Academy in McKinney/Plano area. Thanks ahead of time.

I don't know if you already bought a new driver but I have just recently put my R11 in the back up bag and pulled out my old Ping G10. For me the Ping is far more reliable when my swing is just so-so. I bought it used at Golfsmith for $75, new grip $4 and added a little lead tape to the bottom. When buying used you get so much more club for your money and you don't feel as guilty spending the cash. You also don't feel the need to sell or trade in your old club and can afford to have a really nice backup.

I went and tried out a few clubs. I really like the Adams Golf Speedline? Driver but I actually got a nice Ping G5. It's taking a little getting use to but my good shots are very good! I also like the noise that comes off the face when the ball is struck. I went with 9* a little low but I prefer to roll the ball (my home course is VERY downhill on a lot of shots). Thanks for suggestion though!

You just can't go wrong with a Ping.

I mentioned adding a little lead tape to the bottom because my G10 felt too light compared to my R11. I also think that the stock Ping graphite shafts are quite nice.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
