Purchasing new set

Hello everyone, I am just getting back into golf. I played from 10 to 18 prior to joining the Marines and college. I didn't have the time to keep up with golf between deployments and by the time I was done and moved on to my education my enthusiasm had faded away. Until this year, now having graduated and landing my first career oriented job I am looking to start golfing again. I went to golf galaxy today and tried out a fairly wide variety of clubs. From the ping G15's to the I20's, the Callaway RAZR X and one or two others when I was finally able to narrow it down to two lines of clubs that seemed to have the best feel to me. I am a fairly competitive person and tend to jump in full bore into things I enjoy. I kept this in mind when looking at the clubs as I wanted something forgiving, as I hadn't played since 2003 but something that would also allow me to grow into skill wise. I have narrowed it down to the Taylor Made tour preferred CB and the Adams CB 3. The Adams come in about $100 higher list price but I hit the two clubs very similar. Both ended up about 155 (flight) with a 6. The Taylormade ended up giving me a bit more distance but strictly from the roll it seemed - the Adams seemed to have consistently more backspin. I am not a big pro tour follower myself and actually had never heard of Adams until today. I was hoping someone more knowledgeable on the subject than I could provide further review between these two sets to help me make this decision, even if it is just that they are so similar either would fit what I am looking for. I am currently leaning slightly toward the Taylormade but that is 100% because I am more familiar with the branding and I'd prefer not to base my decision on that. Thanks

Hey Mkoop, welcome to the boards. The adams golf brand is a great name brand of gear today but not as big or popular on tour as some of the industry giants like Taylormade, Titleist & Ping. There are a good plenty of Staffer's on tour that play for Adam's golf on the Pga tour and LPGA as well but it actually seems to be a bit more popular of a brand on the Champions tour.

Taylormade is a pretty dominant brand in store's and on all pro tour's without a question. Does that mean Taylormade makes all the best gear hands down? No, it's all prefference but Taylormade know's how to market there stuff pretty good. The best thing for you to do is get the set you are most comfortable with and that is attractive in looks for you. If the club looks good standing over a shot, there's increased confidence right there. So get the set that makes you happy, be it Adams, Taylormade, Snake eye's, Lynx or whatever.
