hey guys, i have caught a serious case of the shanks, it seems like every club i am shanking or cutting across the ball, it is starting to get very annoying, any advice or drills that would stop it would be appreciated. thanks.

Not enough info to go on. So you're wiping across out-in, but are you finishing with weight on the back foot? Chicken winging? Standing up and pulling off?

I will just offer standard boiler plate stuff:

- from the top, slide the hips forward a bit and drop your hands down behind your body (instead of casting out and away)

- swing in-out trying to hit the inside quarter of the ball

- keep your weight forward and your head still

- release the clubhead into the ball by rolling the right hand over the left

- follow thru by extending the hands and club out and away from the body

You can try to incoporate all of these keys, but sometimes just doing one will do the trick..

In the image below shows a 2x4 in line with your target line. Place it about a few inches from your club head. What it does is if you swing over the top the club will hit the 2x4. If you swing to much from the inside you will hit the 2x4. If you swing in-square-in (on plane) you will miss the 2x4 and hit a straight and will get rid of the shank shot. When you first do this try and use an old club so you don't scuff up a new one, a 7 iron would be a good one to use or what ever you have. Take 3/4 swings and swing slow to try and not hit the 2x4, it may take a few swings to get it but you will.

^^^^^ Hmmm, I like that. I'm going to try that one on the wife (she casts with a little chicken wing).
