I was thinking about this and was curious on input from the great golfing minds of "The Sandtrap".

I happen to enjoy the short game a lot and find it my stron suit compared to off the tee right now ha. I was thinking of how to break down the Short Game into smaller segments then even smaller segments to help focus attention to certain areas and write up a good "plan of attack for practice".

I figure the 4 most important sections are:

Bunker Play, Pitching, Chipping and Putting

But unsure of where to break this down further? Any help? Maybe some suggestions for books you found to be helpful or the "best drills" you have had success with? Is a short game day at these "golf schools" worth the money?

Thanks ahead of time for any help/response.

Well, for putting there's lag (distance control) and shorter putting.  For chipping I'd split it by spin and club.  Are you hitting a softer, low spin shot to hit and roll, or a hard spinner for the hop and stop?  For pitching, I'd again split it by type of shot.  You have a low, mid, and high pitches, and also the flop.  Mike (mvmac) put up a good quickie pitching video that I found very useful.  Especially his high pitch shot is something I've practiced a bunch and found good use for when I've short sided myself but don't want to hit a full flop shot.

I enjoy the Harvey Penick drill using only one ball and getting up and down from various positions around the practice green.  The situations you can put yourself in are limitless.  I'll have intentions of working on 3 or 4 drills in a practice green session only to look up three hours later and see the sun setting while still doing the same drill!  I really like that drill.
