So I go to the local thrift store every other week to see if they have some rare club or something that is of value, but they never do! Just as expected, nothing highly valuable and I decided to hell with it and just buy a random set of clubs. The a Ben Hogan Persimmon driver & 3 wood, a cobra baffler 7 persimmon wood, a Haig Ultra Walter Hagen 2 iron, Lynx Master Model 4-9, a Northwestern Shot Saver Chipper, and a Spalding Autograph Putter. I went to the golf course, put my FJ's on and took out my bag and thought: "Hell! I am going to play 9 holes with that set." So I dumped my regular starting 14 into my car and put these old school clubs in my bag. I brought my oldies up to the clubhouse to check in for a tee time and all the regular drunkards were laughing when they saw what I have in my bag, but I didn't care one bit! I went to the first tee and pulled out the driver, man it felt sooooo good but went about 210 and then went to par it and so on. For that nine I shot a 39 with them I was thoroughly pleased on how well I played with these clubs but could've been a lot better if  it had a wedge in the set after the first hole i was hitting the driver 230-250 and kept coming to about 110 or so so I had to use a choked up 9 so I couldn't really get the exact yardage I needed. I was so surprised on how nice the clubs felt! I honestly thought that they were going to feel like rocks! No, no they didn't the lynxs felt better than my forged adams, the driver felt a lot better than my cobra, and the spalding autograph felt better than my odyssey. I think it shows that equipment is basically staying the same just the loft and the shaft of the clubs are changing. Since I was born in the era where Tiger finally made him for him self I thought these clubs were going to absolutely suck! Man, they sure did prove me wrong!

Rest In Peace my son. I will miss you. 5/12/94-1/29/13 Future Tour Pro Committed suicide thanks to the sand trap. Go to hell to all of you.

    • Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
    • _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
    • Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
    • I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
    • I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
