How do they divey up the prize money at tour events in the case of a tie? There are frequently, like, 4 people tied for 2nd or 3rd at a tournament.

Wild guess here, but I would assume that if their prize schedule was hypothetically:

1st: 1,000,000

2nd: 500,000

3rd: 400,000

4th: 300,000

And 3 people tied for 2nd, they simply add up 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, and divide by 3.  In this case, they'd all get 400,000.

That's what they do, yes. That's why the next person if three tie for second is in fifth place.

I think the prize money is 18% of the purse for first place, 10% for second, and on down the line. I'm almost certain of the 18, not sure about the 10 or any of the numbers below. Easy to figure out though if you can get the prize money payouts for any tournament and just divide it by the total purse.
