Hi everyone, took up golf 3 or 4 months ago I'm 22 and am loving it. Have been a sprinter a weights guy for most of late high school and uni which I finished recently. Though athletics(400m hurdles) is my main sport of choice it can lack some of the social aspects that golf allows and few friends I have run to the same level or enjoy throwing up on a track so what you gonna do...

So I've gotten in to golf, mostly for the social side as it allows me to catch up with a lot of friends that I've not seen, while being at uni as well as uncles cousins, dad and the like. Also golf puts a little less stress on my body than say football or rugby would so fits perfectly into my days off training when I'm getting some R and R.

Hope to be able to learn thing or two on TheSandTrap and hopefully add something to the forum though, my areas of experience are really sprinting, weights and software development, so maybe not all that relevant......

Welcome and enjoy.

We welcome IT geeks and muscle pumpers, especially those who can get off the mark quickly. Happy Olypics there in the capital.

Thanks, IT geekery and pumping iron rarely go hand in hand, but I've always been amused easily. Bit of an addictive personality.

Ah ken ye ken!

    • Day 7 - Mirror work, trying to hit that PGA-logo position in my follow through. Mirror really helped, need to film soon.
    • So hit the😝 irons crooked AND play layup golf?? Hahaha.. no thanks. I would rather stay home. 😊
    • First - glad to see these popping up again. Now to the topic at hand - I would rather be option 1.  If I know how far it's going (I mean a yard or two) I can always play to the wider parts of the fairway and/or the green and still do reasonably well.  Now if I could just really hit the "number" that well.
    • Day 2 (10 Mar 25) - Long day of driving to dr appt with son.  Thankfully got in one of my fave putting drills (two ball side by side) - the goal to have both balls come off the putter face equally by having them come off the putter face as close to the same time as possible.  First few rolls - the toe was leading the way as that ball flew off the face.  By the end of the drill both balls were basically equal off the face, rolling to within a couple of inches of each other.  Nice drill of focusing on squaring the face.  BTW - I was using the old Odyssey DF992.
    • Day 161 - 2025-03-10 Got a decent, long session in. Focused mostly on the backswing feels, and moved on toward the end of the four hours (not all hitting balls, I installed a motion sensing light switch in there too, and worked with a student over FaceTime for a bit) on the downswing feel.
