Went to a recent golf demo day, and got to hit 588 GW and three bounce versions of the 56° SW. The wedges have a bit more rounded leading edge than the CG15 or 16, and doesn't grab as much if you it the ball a little fat. For the 56.16, I could really go after the ball - even on quarter or half swings, the shot took off nice and high, almost like a LW.

I also tested out the new Callaway Forged wedges. Another smooth club, felt almost the same as the 588.

Focus, connect and follow through!

Think I might wait for the new 588s with the Rotex face milling. Have heard from a couple of people that it's like having pre-CC grooves again. The cavity version is out already, the blade is coming next year.

Stretch.

Looks like they rounded out the milling. Big difference? Seems to make sense if you think about it. Will see.

Forgive me for asking an obvious question, but why would you buy a 588 expecting it to be like your old 900? The 588 wasn't like the 900 the first time around.

Much more like it than the new ones are! My buddy has old 588s and they look almost identical to my 900.

    • Down the line and face on from today. Still feeling like I’m sticking the club into a hole in the ceiling above my right shoulder and then big loop inside to start downswing. That’s how it feels. Not how it looks though! Gotta keep working on this for a bit but I see a lot of progress. 😁
    • Day 5 (13 Mar 26) - Friday shootout cancelled- made it a practice round working from mixed tees. Plenty of up and down work around greens.  Best was a hole out birdie on the par 3 #5 hole - nice pitch and roll w/Pw from about 10yds off the green - dead center flagstick drop.  Much of round was focused on getting solid weight shift into lead foot.
    • Day 208 3-13 Worked on wrist arching and flow. First time hitting reall balls at a range in months. It was nice to see ball flight. Still not sure it beats my backyard practice station.
    • Three hole match - microphones on in the cart. It's fascinating listening to them talk about their shots and how they play them. I'm not normally a huge fan of the TM videos - they seem forced to me - but this one doesn't. It's also fun seeing their competitiveness over what on the face of it is a fairly meaningless 3 holes, but they can't help themselves.
