Rory McIlroy backed into a six-way tie for 10th, as he was one of 16 players, including John Daly, who shot 67 or better today at Royal Portrush. He was seven behind Jamie Donaldson, a first-time winner who looks like he spends a lot of time in the gym. The biggest name ahead of Rory was Padraig Harrington, who seems to have found his game lately. Incidentally, the guy engraving the crystal trophy went ahead and put Donaldson's name on it as soon as he had hit his tee shot on 18. His playing partner put his tee shot into a bunker, but was still only two back, so it seemed to me that the engraver was taking a chance. It all worked out, though, as Donaldson made birdie to his opponent's bogey. Has there ever been a case where the engraver jumped the gun, and they had a trophy with the wrong name on it? Maybe van de Velde's Open?

I think that was one example of a situation that's happened a few times. They want to have the name on there when they give the trophy to the winner, so they like to start a little early if possible.

I thought Donaldson played incredibly solid throughout the final round. When he teed off Lundberg was making a huge charge looking as though he was going to shoot in the low 60's. So he had to have known that, but still he was mighty solid throughout the day.
