Not sure if this is worthy of it's own thread given the other "what"s wrong with golf" threads out there. If not the mods can move it where it is appropriate.

Anyway here we go. Slow day at work so I closed up shop and headed out for 9 before the usual 4th of July bbq stuff. It was crowded for this course, small rural community facility in Ft. Lupton CO. Got there at noon, was off #1 at 12:19. Caught an unlucky break and got stuck behind a slow twosome that depsite being slow eventually caught up to the foursome one group ahead of them. The group in front stopped at the 5th tee to take a breather. It was hot and the air smoky from the fires. A little slow heading in from #7 but I finished in just under 2 hours as a riding solo. Real slow for me.

As I was leaving I had to wait to hand in my cart key, got stuck behind some older men checking in. The exchange with the guy at the desk included them changing spots with a group with one late and they were outside sitting in loaded up carts as next on deck as I walked out. It was about 2:25. I drove home, 8 miles on 35 mph county roads and grabbed my roomy to head out to the market and grab some eats. Bought lotto tix and burger fixins and drove home. Decided I'd go back out and play some more so headed back to the course around 4ish.

Off the 1st tee again around 4:15-4:20. Long story short after catching a twosome on #6 they let me play through and I got through the front in about an hour. I stopped by the clubhouse to use the head and grab some water and headed for #10, dog leg right to a blind green. Hit my first shot and drive to my ball. On #10 green is the foursome of old guys I saw on my way out the first time over 3 hours ago, it's 5 freakin' 30.

I left, drove home, went shopping, drove back, played 9 and caught them on 10.

Problem was #11 is a par 3 and by the time I holed out they were already off that tee. They were slow there and I though they'd wait at the #12 tee but off they went again. I took my time on 11 but it's a par 3 so not much time to kill, on the green in 1 and an unfortunate 3 putt didn't take long. They were super slow on #12, it's a par 5. But I had a blow up on that hole, flew the green with my 3rd shot, skulled a chip and left it long. Took 3 putts to finish so they got off the tee on #13 because it too is a par 3. I'm sure they thought they'd eventually let me by.

I really don't have a complaint, there was nobody in front of them and they were likely shocked when I caught them. The next closest group I left behind on #7 and I think they stopped at 9. I just think it's funny I was able to leave, shop, drive back, play 9 and catch them on #10. I was out of time anyway. I had to bail after #12 to get home and get the grill going. Wasn't exactly motivated to finish the round after 2 consecutive holes of 3 putts.

    • I think part of it is there hasn't been enough conclusive studies specific to golf regarding block studies. Maybe the full swing, you can't study it because it is too complicated and to some degree it will fall into variable or random.
    • Going one step stiffer in the golf shaft, of the same make and model will have minor impact on the launch conditions. It can matter, it is a way to dial in some launch conditions if you are a few hundred RPM off or the angle isn't there. Same with moving weights around. A clubhead weights 200-220 grams. You are shifting a fraction of that to move the CG slightly. It can matter, again its more about fine tuning. As for grip size, this is more personal preference. Grip size doesn't have any impact on the swing out of personal preference.  You are going to spend hundreds of dollars for fine tuning. Which if you want, go for it. I am not sure what your level of play is, or what your goals in golf are.  In the end, the golf swing matters more than the equipment. If you want to go to that level of detail, go find a good golf club fitter. ChatGPT is going to surface scan reddit, golfwrx, and other popular websites for the answers. Basically, it is all opinionated gibberish at this point.

    • Well the first advice I would give is to look at your swing. If you are swing out to in, it may be difficult to fix your misses with club adjustments. They would only be a bandaid. I use midsize grips because I have long fingers and I feel I have more control with them. I also have tinkered with shaft length and swing weight. But I know when I miss it’s because my swing was off.
