Does anyone know of a store that sells Scratch Golf clubs, more specifically, left handed Scratch iron sets?  I've been looking at them online and I really like them but want to hit them.  My best bet looks to be at 2nd Swing, but I don't know if they would be in the store or not.

Scratch doesn't sell their clubs in stores as far as I know so you would have to either find a demo day event that they are participating in or locate a fitter that works with them or something along those lines to hit their clubs.  Best of luck.

Well that's not encouraging, lol

I've seen sets at pgatoursuperstore, and that is the only retail store where I've seen them. You might try used at golfwrx.com. That's where Scratch started selling and they're popular over there.

I've owned a couple of sets - they're nothing special. The GI set is huge, the AR-1 is nice. They haven't changed the design in years - we're talking more than 5 years. I think one buys them if they want a lot of specialization and custom work. And typically, you've got to wait and wait and wait for them.

I'd stick to the OEM's but if you're that curious, buy used, watch for the grind on the sole - they have 3 choices - and go to golfwrx and keep looking. Used you can find them cheap. Resale is terrible.

The reason I'm looking into them is because of the customization factor.  I have custom VR irons right now which are great, but I'm shopping around for new clubs.  If I can ever find these somewhere to try them out or demo them I may switch to Scratch golf because of how in depth they go with customizing the clubs for each individual swing.  Used clubs would not give me this same benefit.

Why do you think you need much customization?

What are you customizing? lie angle? grind?

After customizing Scratch, you'll spend more than a Miura iron - and those can be customized. And are a better iron.

Several months ago, Scratch emailed me, saying they were giving "special" deals on custom wedges - it was only $300 per wedge. Hah!

I don't want to bash them, they make some good kit, if a very old design. But most of us don't need an extreme level of customization, and not at that price, and not for nothing at resale when something else catches your eye. If you're paying that much, buy a custom Miura.

In the event you're interested, just looked at Miura - they have split cavities and blades available for lefties. I only mention it because you can have a custom grind (like Scratch), and have them sent to the Miura club maker of your choice for the rest of the custom fit.

But if you're interested in Scratch, good luck. They do have a legendary reputation for long, long waits. If you order now, you might get them in January.

:-)

Hope I'm joking. But over the years, I've been one of their waiting victims, and so have many others on golfwrx. I've read the threads over the years. You also get the guys drinking the kool-aid. good luck.

And if you truly want custom - have a club maker order for you and have him fit you for shafts. Having Scratch do the entire club is not custom. It's hoping.

Try kenoneputt over on 4gea.com. I believe he is a scratch dealer. Ask him.
