I have a RAZR Hawk 3 and 5 Wood but they were gifts from a relative and they have Regular flex shafts. When I can control the tempo enough to not bend the club, I'll make a decent shot, about 265-270 off the tee. I want to buy new shafts for those 2 clubs and I'm considering an x stiff but I don't know all the brands, or what any of the measurements mean. I just want a shaft that helps me control the ball more and I wouldn't mind sacrificing some distance. I also like to be able to feel the club meet the ball so I don't want it to feel soft with a new shaft. What should I get?? Also, I have an Edwin watts golf store nearby and was wondering if they do a good job fitting clubs. And if they are good, could I just get one club at a time done? And how does club fitting work? Do I need new clubs or can they fit my x20's and razr hawks to me? Thanks for helping me out

You ever hit a wood with an extra stiff shaft? If not go try and get back with us. You wanna stiffen them shafts up a little and gain accuracy, cut them down a little bit. I would recommend tinkering with the clubs like I do before you go buy expensive shafts or even the wrong ones. These fitter on here will tell you different but my opinion is just food for thought.

Yea I didn't think about shortening my clubs but I don't really have a problem with the length and I feel like if I get it too short it'll mess up my swing or something

I'm just a tinkerer man. I have always been of the do-it-yourself, figure out how to hit it stance. No offense to club fitters or those that swear by swing coaches and lessons. I just like the challenge of figuring out how to get that 1 iron to go straight or that driver to go right to left.

Very sound advice. many of the top brands are very similar. it really comes down to feel in my opinion and confidence in said shaft.

How do I feel different shafts without buying them? And if I go to a golf store and test a bunch of shafts, would it matter if The clubs are different than mine? Like if I go test shafts but they're attached to like a titleist fairway wood or a taylormade, and not may callaway razr hawk, would there be a big difference, or if the shaft feels good on those clubs, will it most likely still feel good on mine?

Try and fin the shaft u want to try with a club with about the same weight is the best I could think of. I have the same problem mine is club head speed of 120+ but I'm 6'6" 260lbs I have a burner ht with a stock stiff shaft I hit 300 pretty regular I went to a arouse of forged prototype xx and it is a ton of work play a full round it has been getting easier so the jury is still out for me I have however take a little slice out and added 25 yards I bought the same shaft with a rage black and can hit it out of the driving range pretty regular at 360 on the range finder however that is a 50inch long drive set up that being said when I don't hit it straight it just goes farther ob

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
