So I had some store credit at my local store and I didnt know what to get but I saw the deal on the callaway hex blacks 27.30 per dozen. I couldn't pass it up so I got a dozen. A few days prior my bro told me he got me a dozen pro v's and hell bring em over soon. I hadn't opened the callaways yet when I was playing a round with some old nxt balls. I came across a guy selling balls out of the back of his truck inbetween two parts of a course where you cross a street. well 8 dollars for a dozen z stars were too good to pass up especially in optic yellow. First drive with the z star crushed down the middle 295 yards ish wind aided.(best drive of the day).

Now about the z star. I only hit it once good off the tee yesterday. Same ish distance pretty straight down the middle but what I am curious about is that I never had a chip shot that checked up like the pro v would have. Granted I played terribley yesterday. I didnt notice I had a 9 iron that spinned back about a foot from a divot but is the lack of greenside control due to the ball or my bad play? now I am comparing these to the pro v's I usually use so its kind of relative.

I also cant wait to use the hex blacks and compare em to pro v's side by side

Much like you I've only hit a Zstar once, I found one and thought what the hell.  It was great off the tee but didn't have the same feel around the green.  It may be the ball, not sure since I didn't play a full round with it.  I've always gotten more spin out of ProV's and even more out of Nike Tour's.

I never tried nike tours but I found 20xi-x's for 36 a dozen once. felt good but not quite the check of pro v's. Lately I started a new saying. "PRO V ME!" when my ball is looking like its gonna go past the hole and I need it to check up or slow down.

I've found so many Pro Vs around the course lately; they're really great to play with. A few more rounds and I will have a few more sleeves of them.

I have one a whi and it as probably lasted 6 roundsof provisional shots and a hole round at a par 54 course. I really like them but I am kind of a titleist ***** so I am trying not to be biased when I compare the callaways and z stars.

    • It’s possible the graphite shaft has a small internal crack or a delamination. Tapping it and hearing a vibrating sound is usually a sign the shaft isn’t behaving as it should. Since the store wasn’t helpful, consider taking it to a club fitter or a pro shop that can check the shaft flex and integrity. If it’s defective, you might be able to get a replacement from the manufacturer.
    • It’s interesting how much a 3D system changes your understanding. Observing top players in full detail and realizing the trail knee shouldn’t fully extend is a great example of why being open to new info is so important. I like your approach: not trying to be “right,” but trying to teach correctly based on actual evidence. Makes sense why golfers would benefit from this perspective.
    • I would say both are equally not the best for golf. Is it better than nothing, sure.  Golf is an athletic motion. Professional golfers are doing a comprehensive workout routine focusing on strength, power, flexibility, stability. They might include some yoga into the routine. I would put both of them in the recovery bin, not golf enhancement bin.  If you want to increase swing speed, core strength, longevity in golf and life, then lift heavy weights.
