Just got thru listening to Franks analysis concerning the firming of Bethpage. He showed us some shots from Thursday  that stopped quickly and were hit with wedges from the fairway. He then went on and showed Stadlers shot that didn't stop, Watneys chip that didn't stop, and finally Watneys full shot that didn't stop. These shots were all played today. Poulter had whined about the hardness of the greens and tough pin placements. Poor guy, guess he doesn't like challenging situations. Anyway, what Nobilo didn't mention was that Stads shot was from the rough, Watneys chip also was from the rough,  with hooded contact, and finally Watneys pull hook from the fairway. Of course these shots ran out. I thought it was very disingenuous.

After his round today Tiger said something to the effect that some of the greens had really firmed up since the start of the tournament and they were lightning fast. Nobilo may have picked those shots to emphasize the firmness of the greens but I don't take that as disingenuous at all. Tiger had four 3-jack's,,lol,, and many others had trouble on certain holes from short range so those greens have definitely gotten hard, fast, and crusty.

If I had to guess I would imagine the Superintendant/Greenskeeper has trimmed back watering the greens since Thursday's round. They aren't going to allow this to turn into a "Bob Hope Classic -30 under par" tournament. This is Beth-Fricken-Page Black and we host Major's so we will not allow the scoring to get out of hand. But that's just my opinion, I'm sure there's some other scientific reason why the greens have gotten crusty. Maybe it's the barometric pressure,,lol!

Disingenuous is probably a bit strong. What I meant to convey was in trying to bolster his point he showed shots on Saturday being played from the rough and Thursday shots being played from the fairways.  I think a more fair comparison would be to have shots played from the fairways on both days.

    • I had a few tweeks in the bag. I took out my Mizuno pro FliHi 3 iron replaced it with a Titleist GT2 7 Wood. what a change that is, so easy to hit, it goes so high without it ballooning on me. I couldn't get rid of my callaway woods ( Rogue ST Max LS ) but changed the shafts to Diamana BB 63 stiff for the driver and 73 stiff for the 3 wood. Than i got myself a new putter Odyssey S2S jailbird yes i joined the centershaft family
    • First off all i think you should use the same ball all the time. We all strive for consistency on the course, the only factor you can be sure it will be always the same is your ball if you always use the same. So i think we should always use the same. I recently switched from Titleist Pro V1x to Srixon Z-Star Diamond because it i get a bit softer feel around the greens and same results on driver and irons
