Hello all, I have been debating buying a Scotty Cameron California Monterey 1.5 and have a question, on the Scotty site it says that it comes with the following headcover: http://www.scottycameron.com/putters/puttermodel.aspx?id=402

but on many ebay auctions people are selling it with the Studio Select black one like this: http://www.scottycameron.com/putters/puttermodel.aspx?id=407

So which is it ? I know it doesn't matter, I was just wondering.

Titleist 913D2 9.5 (UST VTS 65)

Titleist 913F 15 (Diamana S+)

Titleist 913H 19 (Diamana S+)

Titleist 714 AP2 (4-PW) (DG XP-95)

Titleist Vokey SM5 (52,56,58) (DG XP-95)

Ping Anser 2 Classic

I bought mine from a local shop and it came with the studio select head cover.

Titleist 14 way stand bag
Driver: Titleist 910 D3
3wood: Titleist 910f
hybrid: Ping I20
4-Gw: Ping I20

56 Wedge: Titleist Vokey SM4

60 Wedge: Cleveland CG10

Putter: Scotty Cameron California Fastback

From what I understand the studio headcovers are cheaper.  Therefore the seller (stores or personals) give you the cheaper one.  If you want the "nicer" one you have to buy it separately.   If I bought mine in a store, I would demand that I get the correct headcover from Scotty.

I just got the California Monterey about 3 months ago. I purchased it at Golfsmith.

They initially gave me the silver studio select headcover. Then I argued with them, when I found out it should be the new black headcover. I showed them what the Scotty website had should come with it, and they finally got me the new black one.

These stores should know what headcovers come with each version of a Scotty. They thought I was nuts until I proved them, then they apologized.

I wonder if it's against Scotty Cameron authorized retailers policies to sell a putter with a different headcover? I don't think they can or they will lose their license.

Honestly, half the people working in Golfsmith, Edwin Watts or Golf Galaxy, are not golf professionals.  It's a job, not a passion like it is for most of us on the forum.  And most of them aren't equipment geeks, so no surprise they wouldn't know which head cover goes with which putter.  Additionally, Scotty changes headcovers pretty regularlly within the same line of putters, especially when he changes finish, so keeping up with what head cover goes with what putter based on the finish and model year could be a career on it's own.

I would suspect those stores get a group of putters and head covers, they are not matched up head cover to putter, so employee's wouldn't always know what head cover goes with what putter.

Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

An authorized Scotty Cameron retailer? Wouldn't that be like an autorized retailer of Pepsi or Levis?

    • Day 252: worked on chipping for a while with my chipping net. Worked on low, medium, and high shots. Productive session.
    • Day 180 - 2025-03-29 Not a long time today, but I got my five minutes in jumping and doing some work on the downswing.
    • I’ll just stick to the basics for now - got enough to work on… this is my home practice range. The little clearing in about the center of the photo is roughly 200 yards.

    • Played Musgrove Mill today. 72.3/155. +9 for 15 official holes as 2 holes are closed, and the par 5 16th plays as a converted par 3. We played the first three holes over to finish 18, and parred 1 and2 amped bogeyed 3. The good: hit every fairway. 1 less than normal for the converted par 3, but the second time I have done that this year. My sand wedge approach on 10 after a monster drive hit the pin in the back left corner hit he pin and spun away to 9’, and I missed the putt.   The great: hit 8 GIR and 7 were inside 10’. Needs work: Missed every birdie putt. No lip-outs. Just struggled on fast greens. Three-putted the par-5 9th with the pin on the back tier and jut missed hitting my approach to the proper level and it spun all the way to the front of the green.
