I just bought a Odyessey Proto-type 9 (major score on ebay). I love the club, hate the grip. Those Gen3's just feel too hard for me. I am going to replace my grip as I do with all my putters. I was thinking of going with a mid-sized golf pride tour traditions. Semi-soft & mid sized. The problem I have (among many) is that I am never sure when I have the right grip for me. Maybe I am unsure or unsatisfied, but I always think maybe I can find a better fit. When trying grips out at the local shop (northway 8), I try every club they have. They all tend to have stock grips and never have mid size grips. I have tried mid sized winn grip on a previous club and did well with it. I also tried a golf pride 1/2 wrap and was not as impressed as the season wore on. I know I dislike the stock odyessey grip. Dont like the Ping grip. I do like the Ping black out and the black cleveland putter grip. I have smallish hands 7" from palm to end of middle finger. I have noticed that when I put my wrists break not back towards me, but away from me. To combat this I have started using the forward press. I am just looking for feedback from people with similar situations. What have to found? What have you settled on? Does a mid size have benefits for someone like me? Otherwise my option is to just keep griping and regriping. Starting with the Golf pride mid size tour traditions. If that does not work Ping Black out. Maybe I am just writing to convince myself, but the uncertianty is always a struggle on my mind. The idea that there maybe better out there weights on me and allows me never to stick with something for more than a season.

If your hands are breaking down, maybe you need a new way to place your hands on the grip, instead of a grip.

Or

Tried a round grip?

I did not until last year - but have found it very comfortable.

This is a non tapered tacki mac grip made for Edel:

$9.

    • Day 159 1-19 Flow drill while attempting to add arch in wrist on downswing. Not where it needs to be but felt good working on swing flow.
    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.
    • That depends what you do within those two.  Are they your only options?   Check out Fit for Golf if you get a moment.  It's linked on the sidebar;  I did it for two years, stopped for a really bad reason, and I plan to get back to it soon.   Mike Carroll also has a great free podcast about a lot of topics in golf fitness.
    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
