I have been visiting the range a lot lately and hitting fat shots on range mats seems to be taking a toll on my hand.

I am getting pain right here http://i.imgur.com/KiqHT.png mainly when i grip something tight, or obviously when I hit a fat shot, although now it hurts whenever I just hit a ball normally.

I have occasionally got this pain in the past and usually it goes away in a day or two, but this time it has been lingering for almost a week now. has anybody here experienced something similar? am I death-gripping the club too hard?

I have noticed that if use a hand grip strength thing I can slowly work my way up to being nearly pain free when I grip something, but it only lasts temporarily. Not sure if this is helping at all or hurting it more.

I'm no doctor but assuming you are right handed, you have probably just bruised your metacarpals with the butt of the club. I would suggest obviously not hitting off the mats until you learn to stop hitting fat shots so often and to just take a week off. RICE it. That's all I got.
