Here is the skinny. I know that seeing a club maker is the best way to go. Been there, done that. I would like to know fellow golfers / club makers opinion on this. Bottom line, I am trying to gain distance and bring down the ball flight. Spec. - Hibore XL - 10.5, Regular OEM Shaft. Will a heavier shaft bring down the ball flight but will I sacrifice distance? I know that a lighter shaft will generate a faster swing. But, more distance?

Thanks...

If you get a stiff shaft you'll lose distance, but the trajectory will be lower...

You have to know all of his swing apsects before making generalizations like that. What you said is just not true.

Don't listen to CG031, he doesn't know what he's talking about. Heavier and stiffer shafts don't always mean less distance or lower ball flight. Other things that come into play are torque, flex point, tip stiffness etc. Go and see another club fitter with a launch monitor and get your statistics measured, then go with their advice. They know what their talking about.

Don't take advice from someone who plays off 19. There's a reason he needs a shot a hole.

Ditto. For some, a change towards stiffer or heavier will increase their distance.
