Is this possibly to do?

I've heard of using cola, but wouldn't that leave a sticky residue?

Suggestions?

Cola is for removing the Oil Can finish. If you have the club down to the raw metal, you can heat it up with a torch and submerse it in oil. There is another thread that discusses this process extensively.

Could you point me to this?

That's the effect I'm looking for, the gunmetal/old look.

I'm thinking of taking off the finish on my 60* spin milled and then using the birchwood casey gun blueing kit. Figure steel is steel. Just wondering if there are any tips to doing it, cautions, etc. I think it's going to be a unique and great look. also I think its legal to do because it doesnt change the spin characteristics.

    • If you’ve been playing over sixty years that means you’re not as young as you used to be, welcome to the club. Most people I play with are 70+ and we all seem to have issues. Couple of the guys have had cancer, heart issues and strokes but still doing the best they can. But not what they used to. Some are where they probably should just play nine holes because at about fifteen they are starting to struggle quite a bit. My scores are creeping up each year, don’t like it but it’s better than sitting in the recliner. Good luck.
