Hello I would like to know what the potential for my game is. Here is some information on how I am doing so well, I have been golfing about six months, I shoot on average about 85 now. I golf just about everyday and am 21 years old.

You should post your swing in the member swings section of the forum, it will give people a lot more insight to your game and provide a template for answering questions like "What is your typical ballflight?" and "What is your typical mishit?" that will give you a better way to assess your game. (that is, if anyone comments on your swing thread, like they haven't mine in three days since posting it... )

today i shot a 78 I've done this a few times before and once played 9 holes with 1 over. I would like advice, you know just what should my goals be, other than break 80 consistently. I would like to be a golf teacher eventually, I'm at a community college and would like to be in the golf field. I know being a pro would be best case scenario and unrealistic. I also have problems with the mental part of golf. I have trouble with feeling right about shots, I know confidence and feeling have a lot to do with it. some days I just don't feel the same when I shoot and this makes me shoot worse. And when I have a day like that I get mad because I know I can shoot better than that and I don't, I would like advice on what I should do to not get as mad and be able to focus on the next shot because that shot is the most important.

Well Alex, i would say that your assessment of your personal 'problem' is well founded and honest.  Nearly all golfers, at every level, suffer the confidence insecurity you speak of,  so it's nothing new. But how to  address and solve that problem is not easy at all. Seems to me that confidence can only arise from positive personal experience and not from any 'intellectual' knowledge. Who can play the piano by reading a music book? And who can skillfully play any musical instrument without many wrong notes along the way. Certainly good golf  technique is a must but there is no absolute formula for that either, look at the variable swings on the TV. Practice and play, especially under demanding conditions will help. Demanding conditions like tournaments and money play. Lee Trevino, mostly self taught, learned self-confidence by competing for money when his own pockets were empty on the first tee box. Your desire must overcome your fears and each man is different.

    • That was a good watch. When I started working on pelvis in the backswing. I thought, this sounds contradictory to those leg straightening threads on the site. Erik has already done a correction. Then the last lesson we went more down the route of feeling the right knee gains flex. It doesn’t, but the feeling keeps my knee position in a good range. Also, I just realized how much extra work my right hip needed to do to stabilize the body with the proper weight shift. Those glute and hip stabilizers got worked. 🤣 I wish this evolution in the golf instruction happened 20 years ago! 😭
    • I've been Playing Golf for: 40 yrs My current handicap index or average score is: 4.0 factor My typical ball flight is: Straight however sometimes slight draw. The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: squirt to the right due to to much arm not enough turn. • The first issue Erik spoke about is something we worked on for my swing during both GEARS sessions. GEARS was showing my pelvis center moving towards the ball during the back swing. I wasn’t the 4” guy though! This forced me to correct on the downswing to give myself space. My hip rotation was to high as well. We corrected it by first getting the weight off my heels in my stance and getting my posture correct. Then the feel was shifting back into my right hip at a 45 degree angle. This kept my pelvis center from moving towards the ball at the start of the backswing. I also didn’t sway back as much as I felt I did because of the angle I was shifting. Feel Ain’t Real. The cool thing about GEARS is as you work on something you can see the exact (Real) change happening. On video, it is much harder to spot this issue because of the 2D nature of filming. But I know what to look for now. Sadly, I was hurt all last year and most of this year so I really haven’t been able to work on it much. I did do a lot of backswing work though.
