I've been a 30 handicapper all my life.  Always shot in the high 90's to mid 100's.  The majority of my shots are line drives.  Rarely does my ball go high and "plop" in the middle of the green.   I top all my fairway woods.  My driver when I hit solid goes about 185-200 yards.  My favorite shot to hit is out of short rough. On my backswing, I grab the grass and it effects my shots.  This happens about 3-4 times a round.   My chipping is horrible and I would rather put when 10 feet off green instead of chip.  Only thing that has ever saved me is my putting.  I play about 15 rounds a year and practice about 2 -3 times per month.

I've had a few lesson through the years and have had postitive feedback on "good swing" and "good grip".  I'm just a terrible striker of the ball --- consistently.

This past weekend, I noticed that my club at address had the toe up about an inch when I went to address the ball.  I said that's weird.  So I tried rolling my shoulders forward at address to get the bottom of the club flat and after doing this little trick I started hitting the ball consistently.  The next time I went to practice, I did the same technique and I had a pretty good practice session.

So I think my problem is lie angle .  My question is should I go and get my clubs fixed --- or should I go and get a lesson and try to let a professional help me with my problems.

Thanks....

ZCN

Fix the sticks first. If you truly have a 'good swing' then you may be just fine once your equipment fits you.

    • Day 50 - 2024-11-19 Hit about 20 balls focusing mostly on the backswing. That's going to be my November and December.
    • They need to do something to speed  up play. They could randomly  time  players. One  idea would  be  if a group gets  out  of  position they are disqualified. If its a group of  3 and  its  1 player playing like  molasses i can imagine an exciting interaction, lol
    • I agree with @dennyjones, a suspension of some meaningful duration would be better than getting bounced from the Tour. They might consider experimenting each week. It might generate a bit of interest. I like the idea of a visible shot clock. If a player and their caddy can’t decide on a strategy and pull the trigger in XX seconds (30? 45? 60?), one stroke penalty. Give each player 2 resets a round. The clock starts when the last player to hit’s ball stops moving. Other pace ideas could be used every couple events until a consensus is reached to adopt or ditch an idea.
