Defending champ: Luke Donald along with Adam Scott, Matt Kuchar are entered. Not the best field, but the course gets a lot of positive comments as one of the PGA tour player's favorites.

I'll be out there Tues, Thursday, Friday, and most likely Saturday - being the golf groupie. Can't get enough of watching PGA events in person.   This tournament is having sponsor problems and could be the last year if a 2014 sponsor doesn't come forward.

Innisbrook Copperhead Course.....who says Florida doesn't have hills and pine trees?

Luke Donald needs to get his game in gear.  He looked lost out there playing with Tiger and Rory.  Even when Rory was playing poorly... Luke just looked deflated and uninterested.

Pretty sad when he is the 3rd ranked player in the world... And playing nowhere near their caliber of play.

Hip problem. He's an old stager now.

Matt Kuchar and Brian Gay are the two highest ranked player in this year's Fedex points who will be playing this weekend in Tampa Bay.  If Kuchar won this weekend, it would put him in first place. Many of the crowd's favorites aren't slated to play.

Other notables on the Fedex List: Michael Thompson, Josh Teater, and Jimmy Walker.

Stuart Cink just changed clubs...it would be nice to see him show up with his best game!

Who looks good to you for this weekend?

Today: raining cats n' dogs. Was going to go out for practice rounds. Still might as the showers are supposed to go away this afternoon. Much cooler temps here 60s expected for the start of the tournament.  Course hasn't gotten much rain until today so I don't know how this will affect play of the course.

Will watch a few of the up and comers this week - will also look for some bigger names.

Of course, Michael Bradley playing in his backyard because I am not going this year. He never plays when I go, yet always does when I dont.

Tenth hole- Par 4 looking up from the green to the tee.

Typical of the Copperhead course - lots of elevation changes and pine trees - unusual for Florida courses.

Looks like a great field for an event I have never watched. I will be sure to catch as much as I can. Looking at pictures of the course and it looks like a fun one to play. Should be a fun event to watch.

Followed Woodland a lot today. Spoke w/ him briefly (thanked him for visiting MacDill AFB last year to give a clinic to members of the military).  Really nice guy -

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
