Finally swallowed my pride and took a lesson, despite playing fairly well recently.  Learned some good stuff, including realizing i really don't release through the ball.  I've been able to play this way for a while except for my long woods (baby fade with short/irons, hard cut with long irons, banana slice with driver), but i want to fix it.

Whenever I practice releasing the club in super slowmo, it's easy and i can feel my arms rolling, but the second i try it full speed i can tell i'm holding off and chicken winging the hell out it.

Does anyone have any good drills to ingrain the feeling of a proper release? i know the L to L drill but that's about it.

I really like slow motion drills. Learning a new thing in the swing will take TONS of repetition to ingrain it in your brain. You have to do the new move hundreds if not a thousand times before it feels natural and subconscious.

Here's the deal...

Golfers who draw the ball regularly actually DON'T "release the club" much at all.

Golfers who fade the ball tend to have some of the bigger "releases."

"Releasing" the club (rolling your forearms over each other) tends to send the path LEFT, increasing the likelihood that the ball will CUT or fade.

There's more in that thread but please re-consider trying to roll the forearms more to hit a draw or straighten out a fade...

I never knew that the release, non-release actually helped shape your shot. Very interesting!!!
