Hi everyone, new to the site and was looking for some help on choosing descent starter club set for myself. I have found a set of used Callaway Warbirds at a good price and wasn't for certain if this would be a good set to start out with? From doing a search on here it looks as if these were sold at Dick's and various other places as boxed sets. Would these be okay to start with or should I look for individual iron sets, drivers, etc and try to piece together a set of Pings or Taylormades? Thanks.

I went ahead and bought them, got bag, Diablo Octane 9.5 driver, irons 5-9, PW, SW, Hybrid 3&4, Wood 3&5, putter all Callaway plus he gave me a Hippo putter, Orlimar 52 degree wedge, Northwestern 60 degree SW, big bag of tees, and about 50-60 new balls. I think it was okay of a buy, $175.00. But now I have found another set of Callaway irons, Diablo Forged at a good price so I'm thinking about picking them up before they get gone. I'm going to get to try out everything this Sunday. I, myself won't really be able to give a good opinion of all being I have only played a few times years ago but I'm going with my nephew who has been playing for about 15 years so I'm going to see what he thinks about them.

    • Day 233: did a stack session.
    • Failed to hit “done” on yesterday’s post - so we start over as that’s two missed posts in the last couple of weeks.   Day 1 (9 Mar 25) - Some 50° wedge fun this afternoon in the backyard.  Worked on making smooth swings with good torso rotation - really zeroing in where I wanted the ball to land AND then making sure I watched the ball leave before looking up as the swing finished.  The latter focal point is one that has begun to pay as I’m seeing better green side accuracy - more up and downs made.
    • Just had a club event and played 5 nine hole matches. Shot 39-36-37-35-40. Just a really good weekend of golf even though the last 9 was a struggle to swing the club the last 5 holes. The highlight was a turkey to cap off a match for a tie.
    • Day 160 - 2025-03-09 Got some work in after a long day. Only about 15 minutes and only about 21 golf balls, but… They were focused on the backswing with a pause, then a decent bit on the downswing.
    • This weekend I knocked off #10...a short 375 yard par 4....hit a hooky 4 wood that found the sand left leaving 165 into the wind. I hit 6 iron to 2 feet and tapped it in. All I have left is a par 3 that has been tricky this year.
