My daughter (high school junior) has had ladies flex TM burner irons for last 2 seasons and she has improved steadily from mid-hi 90s to now shooting lo-mid 80s.  All the girls on her HS team (very competitive team) have sr or regular mens shafts in their irons.  I suspect she might benefit from a stiffer flex also but A. not sure I should mess with her equip if she is steadily improving and B. i'm uncertain as to what benefit she would actually get from stiffer shafts - meaning will she get more distance? more accuracy?  I did get her swing speed measured last yr and she was borderline ladies/senior shaft at that time.  She hits her driver about 180-190.

Any feedback opinion from anybody would be appreciated before I go to Golfsmith or someplace that might try to sell me something. . . Thanks.

With how far she hits her driver, I suspect she should stay with women's shafts. What is her actual clubhead speed with a driver?

Stiffer shafts will increase control, but most likely will decrease raw clubhead speed and distance. But shaft selections involve more than clubhead speed. Hand-loading and tempo characteristics also influence which shaft is best.

If she's shooting in the low 80s, she obviously knows something about the game. Wait for her to suggest club changes. With a caution from the drama world, don't be a dad who's a "stage mother."

Focus, connect and follow through!

Appreciate the feedback so far.  Would welcome anyone elses also.  I'll go have her swing re-measured at Golfsmith nearby and see what one of their fitters say.
