I just recently started taking more of a serious interest in golf. I set up a net in the back yard and have been trying to prepare for the beginning of my golf season (I live in Mass). I was wondering if anyone knew of a good golf mat that will allow me to hit down on the golf ball and isn't going to burn a hole in my pocket. Thanks for the help.

Check out the Country Club Elite Hitting Strip on eBay, or their website Real Feel Golf Mats. The hitting strips are priced down to $30. It's the best mat I've tried so far. You will feel it if you hit it fat, while the club sails smoothly through on a good hit. They also seem very durable. I know Golf Evolution use (or used) these mats. http://thesandtrap.com/t/54192/practice-range-hitting-mats http://thesandtrap.com/t/53950/practicing-with-a-net-what-is-your-setup

This is the kind i use, you can practice hitting down on the ball unlike the superthin mats.

I agree with this, but nothing beats real grass for me.

the realfeelgolf mats are the real deal i own one and the strip that zeph was talking about works just as good as the full mat at a fractio of the cost. about durability i saw one of the top 10 golf coachs i cant remember his name from flordia say he has had his for 6 years outside without them being ruined.
