Long story short, I can't get on with typical hybrids at all. I have two Nike SQ hybrids that I've never had confidence in and played two 9 hole rounds with a smaller Titlest 910 21 degree that someone let me demo. I didn't like any of them...at all.

So, I decided to order a MP-H4 3 iron. I currently play the MX-200's in 4-GW. I ditched the 4 and 5 irons for two years, but recently put them in the bag again and have been hitting them pretty well. That inspired me to step up to the MP-H4 3 iron to replace the Nike 4 hybrid. Keep in mind, I'm a 17 hdcp (hopefully on the way down) and I haven't had a 3 iron forever (not that I could hit it then).

My first impressions were that the club looks great and has a slightly smaller head than my MX-200's. I have to admit the looking at the smaller head while I was still at work had me slightly worried. The thicker sole restored some confidence though.

After work, I went straight to the range to try it out. I hit some 9 irons to warm, a few 5 irons and then pulled the MP-H4. With the first few practice swings, it felt very balanced. The hybrid / hollow design felt nice and smooth. Also, I noticed it was the same length as my MX-200 5 iron. I expected it to be longer, but it wasn't. My MX-200's were bought off the shelf and this was ordered custom from Mizuno with standard length / lie (I'm 5'11"). Maybe someone can comment on that.

In short, this club felt amazing. Amazing! As mentioned I'm a 17 and haven't had a 3 iron forever. It had a mid trajectory and wasn't hard to hit at all. This was just what I was looking for in a hybrid club. You can feel the hollow aspect of the club and the sound is a bit more clicky and higher pitched than the MX-200's. I did hit a few off the toe, but the result wasn't any different than a toe shot with any of my other irons.

I got this club fitted with a TT Dynalite Gold XP to match my MX-200's, plus I really like these shafts. So, if you don't like most of the hybrid offerings out there and want something that's a long iron replacement with more forgiveness, I'd take a long look at these clubs. I think Mizuno really nailed it.

I'm with you.    I've tried ad nauseum and just can't commit to hybrids.    I wanted a cavity back 3 iron, so I ordered a TM Rocketbladez 3 iron.    It's magnificent off the tee - absolutely love hitting it for when it's too tight for me to hit driver.     Carries far longer than my previous 3 iron.     Sounds great too.    Off the deck, I'm not as confident with it yet - never ever sliced an iron before like I do with this 3 iron (always hook irons) - so thats something I have to figure out that seems peculiar to this club.    A pure 3 iron off the tee is the best feeling in golf ...
