I was on a used club site and noticed they were mentioning club length in the description of the clubs. I never considered club length when purchasing clubs. I have a tendency to slice because I stand pretty upright in my swing, causing my club to come across the ball with an open face. If I can remember to stay bent over, I can get rid off the slice, but it doesn't feel natural. Would longer clubs help with this?

Im pretty sure it would do just the opposite, because I longer club is harder to swing, but you get more swing speed instead and the shaft gets a bit more less stiff so its easier for you do close your clubface on impact.

if you're to upright I guess you should use shorter clubs rather than longer, because if you use a shorter club for example try hit the ball with the putter, you need to be more bent over than when using a 4i for example.

but go see a clubfitter for more exact info.

The reason why you are slicing is probably because the lie of your clubs is too flat. If you are very upright then the toe of the club hit the ground first which opens up the club-face.

Try getting the lie of your clubs adjusted. There is an interesting page about club length on club length on golfclubshaftreview.com

Although club length is an open subject. Faldo is a giant and his clubs were an inch shorter than std and Woosenam were an inch longer. Club for the past few years now have been getting a little longer so experiment a little and have the lie adjusted first

jeck: I'm sorry but this is bad advice. You can't tell someone whose length and weight and "WTF" you don't know he needs a certain length of clubs. Captainhook: go see a fitter! They'll measure you up, look at the length of your clubs, the lie and the stiffness of the shafts, but also the size of your grips as this could be a factor. We don't know anything about you other then that your name doesn't correspond with the kind of shots you say you produce ;)

    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
