increase in iron length

I've always felt that my standard length irons may be a little short for me. I did the measurements of wrist to floor and yes I should be using a inch over standard. I was going to reshaft anyway so it's a good time to make the switch. How will this affect distance. Just wondering what kinda increase one inch would make with all other parameters the same? How much of a increase in clubhead speed would a inch make? Thanks for the help!

Depends really

I've choke down on irons before and have them go the same distance. It depends on contact. Generally the loft on the club effects the distance more than the length.

for you, you might gain a bit of distance, it probably would be anywere from 2-3 yards on an iron.

Caution!

Wrist-to-floor measurement is a starting point to get an idea of what shaft length you might need. But , it doesn't take into account your address posture and actual ball hitting dynamics.

To find out for sure, you need to go to a club fitter and hit some shots. The face impact and sole impact decals can tell you if you need shaft length and/or lie adjustments (the two work together).

In-person testing - where you swing a club and hit shots - gives you the best info on what you need.
